New Feature - Video Completion Options

ScormFly now has the ability for you to control how much of a video is required in order for it to be recorded as "Complete" by the LMS.

It seems logical that 100% of a video must be watched in order to earn "Complete" status. But we were contacted by a ScormFly user who was getting complaints from users that they watched a video but the LMS was reporting that they did not complete it.  After analyzing the data, we concluded that a significant number of users were shutting down the video player about 2 minutes before the end of the video.  When we examined the video, we discovered that the timing coincided with a fade to black screen, followed by the rolling of credits (the actors, producer, and the like).  It was obvious that users concluded that they had completed the video and it was safe to move on.  Unfortunately, ScormFly didn't agree.  It wasn't going to record the video as "Complete" until every single second was viewed. As a result, we added this new functionality to the product.

Here's a screenshot of the new feature in ScormFly's video editor.

By default, ScormFly will consider a video complete if 90% of the video has been viewed.  There will be situations where this needs to be changed.  It's important to consider the duration of your video when optimizing this setting.  For example, if your video is only 30 seconds long and you stick with the default of 90%, users will be required to view 29 of 30 seconds.  If your video fades to black during the last few seconds, you should adjust the percentage to 80% or lower.  Alternatively if your video is 60 minutes long, and you stick with the default of 90%, users will be required to view 54 of 60 minutes.

Thanks for using ScormFly!
